WHAT advice can I give my students?
Advice From Our Blog
We love to blog at RateMyPlacement! It gives us an opportunity to be creative! We take this opportunity to give advice to students in an informal and fun way.
We provide top tips with CV advice, assessment centre advice and interview advice to help your students to shine and stand out and bag their dream placement!
#PlacementChat is an hour long twitter party where students, recruiters and placement officers can come together to discuss anything and everything placement related.
For a student, #PlacementChat is a fantastic opportunity where they can have their placement questions answered by the experts as well as having the opportunity to connect with recruiters including Barclays, Microsoft and Enterprise Rent-A-Car!
Infographics are a great way of putting stats into context and bringing them to life! We love creating exciting content from the wealth of data we have available here at RateMyPlacement. From average salaries to what students think of the local area, our reviews provide invaluable insights into what it’s really like to undertake work experience. Let us show you how the world of undergraduate employment is developing!

Who could my students work for?
We have placements available for students studying a wide range of degrees. The most popular sectors for placement years are banking, finance, retail, accountancy, engineering and IT. However, there really are placements available in most industries with a large variety of roles. Becoming more popular are a variety of roles such as business management, marketing and HR.
Most placements will give you a great insight into what a graduate scheme will be like within that organisation or industry. They are an amazing way of your students finding out what they may (or may not) want to do when they graduate. It is also a fantastic way for your students to be in the best position possible for when they graduate.
How can I get my students excited?
We love nothing more than getting students enthusiastic about work experience. Here at RMP headquarters we are all exceptionally passionate about it and we want this enthusiasm to spread!
- Use stats – students love the cold, hard facts!
- Get third years to relay their placement experiences
- Make examples relevant and up-to-date
- Encourage talks from industry experts and recruiters
There is nothing better than getting ex-placement students to talk to your students, they are fresh out of the placement world and usually they can’t wait to tell everyone how fantastic their placement was!
What resources can we offer you?
We have created a presentation especially for you to use!
Download it here to present to your students and let them know about the benefits of doing a placement as well as top tips on how to bag a top placement!
