What are the greatest 2 words in the English dictionary when put next to each other?? That’s right FREE-BAR!! Which is exactly what I had at one of the 21st parties I went to so yeah I was a bit of a drunken mess after that party, and the week after I was even more of a drunken mess at another 21st! But that’s what working is doing to me now, can’t handle my drink and by the time Friday comes around and I’m ready to go out and have a good time,

I end up a disgrace, hopefully I will regain some drinking power next year, have to get in training over summer when I finish here so I’m not too much of an embarrassment when I’m a true student again!! 

So my site has just had a new high speed laser bought and fitted for around £500,000, which is quite a lot of money really so you would hope they would have thought it through before buying it, but it wouldn’t be Outokumpu if they had done that so no, they have rushed into buying something they don’t need or know how to use properly. People have been sent on a training course to learn how to use the machines software but that was 3 weeks ago and they have not even had the software fitted on their machines in the office yet and so have completely forgotten everything they learnt. The people who will be using the machines on the shop floor (rather than the office staff) have no idea how to use it as they have not yet been given any training. The machine can only cut certain size plates whereas everyone thought it could cut anything (As we have remnants that can be strange shapes, if an order doesn’t fill a whole plate then the left over plate is saved and reused for smaller orders). So money well spent, we shall have to wait and see on that one but at the moment I’m not convinced.

I had a snow day as well last week which was good, woke up looked outside and realised there was no way my car was getting me into work, it struggles at the best of times, so I phoned up explained I couldn’t get in and they were fine about it, which left me with the rest of the day to find a hill, find a sledge and basically yob around for a day which made a nice change from looking out of the office window staring at the snow!

My job is starting to get quite routine now given that we only produce one thing, stainless steel and its becoming quite repetitive, which means I’m getting quite good at it but I would quite like to do other things, something new and fresh to keep me motivated. That’s something I will probably look for in any future job I get, something which keeps me on my toes and isn’t so routine and where there are opportunities to expand my skills! Wow I was thinking this was going to be a short blog given that my job is becoming repetitive but its pretty dam long!!
